We believe our values are the vehicles that will help us accomplish our vision.
Worship is the highest calling that we have as a people. All other forms of ministry flow out of a heart of love for the Lord. Worship nurtures that love experience with God. Therefore, a good portion of our time together is marked by worship.
We believe that our church is full of ministers. Therefore, the pastoral staff has a high commitment to equipping our people. This includes praying for the sick, deliverance ministry, and healing emotions. John believes that we should all be ministering the Life of Jesus wherever we may be. Through classes, small group involvement, and life situations, members of TVC are equipped.
The Word of God has as its place final authority in defining our practices, both individually and corporately. Sunday's teachings are only launch pads to individual bible study during the week. A major emphasis on the bible is the actualization of the Word in our day to day life, i.e., doing it not just studying it!
A LIFE Group is a home fellowship that meets weekly for 2-3 hours. They are usually made up of 12-15 adults that get together for worship, fellowship and ministry to one another. They are a place where we "learn to love 12 other people more than ourselves". They are also a place where we can develop our spiritual gifts and receive pastoral care.
We are convinced that nothing long lasting can be built in the kingdom without a commitment to prayer. We encourage all our members to develop their own prayer life. It will be the most powerful thing we do each day. We also have weekly intercessory prayer several times each week in the office suite, check the calendar for times and dates.
From the outset, it has been our desire that an attitude of servant hood would flavor all that we do. Humility is not a natural trait of the human heart but Jesus lived it so well, it enabled him to die for us. Phil 2:1-10 We desire to serve with no strings attached, not only each other but the community around us.
We are committed to reach those who don't know the love and forgiveness of Jesus Christ. The personality of church lends itself to a unique expression of that love. It is God's mercy and kindness that leads us to repentance. Therefore, we intend that each outreach be flavored with those qualities. We use Servant Evangelism as a means to express God's love to the city but also encourage our members to think creatively in forming their own activities.
We are convinced that personal evangelism is the most effective means of telling the message of Jesus Christ. We believe that we are to love the Pre-Christian unconditionally and in that context tell our own story. We can not forget where we came from and those that still don't know Him. To that purpose our church exists.
